Focaccia Bread. So delicious! We've been eating focaccia bread with balsamic vinegar, olive oil and garlic, basically forever. Recently I decided to make my own focaccia bread. It turned out better then I expected! So good, and so easy. :)
Picture
In a large bowl mix 2 3/4 flour, 1 tsp. sugar...
Picture
1 tsp. salt...

1 tsp. garlic powder. I use Roasted Garlic Aioli from Epicure, it is really good and adds a little more flavour than just plain garlic powder.
Picture
1 tsp. dried oregano...
Picture
1 tsp. dried rosemary...
Picture
And 1 tsp. dried basil.
Picture
Add 1 tablespoon active dry yeast.
Picture
Measure out 1 cup of warm water, make sure it is between 115-120°.
Picture
Add the water and 1 tbsp. olive oil to the flour mixture. Mix well.
Picture
Once the dough is mixed, take it out and knead on a flat surface. Add more olive oil if needed.
Picture
Once you have kneaded it for about 10 minutes, place in a bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and set in a warm place for about 20 minutes.
Picture
Punch down the dough, form into a oval form about 2 inches thick, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Picture
After the second rise use your thumb and place indents all over the dough.
Picture
Cover with about 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and about 1/2 cup parmesan cheese.
Picture
Bake in a 450° preheated oven for about 15 minutes.

And enjoy! This bread is best eaten fresh, so only make it when you know it will be eaten. Which it will, unless you are leaving that day.
It tastes great plain, thanks to the cheese and herbs, but it also tastes amazing if you take about 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar, and 1/4 cup olive oil, add minced garlic, and mix together. Sooooo delicious! :)
